Hello James. I am at a loss as to what's happening with your compressor. You say the compressor pump stops, but the motor still runs. And at the same time your PRV valve opens to release pressure.

I don't understand how your compressor motor could run but the compressor pump not, unless the belt is sliding on the sheave or the direct shaft drive (whichever you have) is somehow disconnecting.

And, if the pump is not working, how is it that the pressure in your system reaches a high enough level to pop the PRV?

I need more info, please.
