Compressor slows down after 25 seconds

Sears 2 hp , 20 gallon

it builds up pressure, about 35 lbs. then after about 25 secs.the motor starts clicking after it slows down.
With no load the motor runs fine.

Even a failing motor will run a long time with no load.

Either you have a mechanical issue that is building pressure to the point where the motor hasn't got the power to overcome the load, or the motor itself is failing.

I would first examine the check valve (see Nav bar for page location) to make sure it is working properly.
