I dont see any check valve it has the same set up as the unit you used to show the release valve

G'day Steve.

If air is bleeding out of the unloader valve when the compressor is not running, then you probably need to clean or replace the tank check valve.

See that page for more info.

unloader valve leaking

by David G
(Sylmar, CA USA)

i have a bostitch model cap2000P, for some unknow reason the pressure switch blowed up, so i did replaced it with the same model. Now when power on the compressor, the air is 100% leaking from the unloader valve (#29).

Do the check valve (#31) can be defected and causing the air to go directly thru the unloader valve instead to go in the tanks?

i would like to understand how the check valve is working regarding the unloader valve?
i did opened the check valve and saw a spring that push the piece of rubber, so look like that the air coming from the piston push this piece of rubber to ge the air going inside the tank, then soon as the piston stopped, the spring push back the piece of rubber which closed the tank.
But my problem come from the unloader valve, it seem to be a direct line coming from the entry of the check valve where the pipe (#9) is connected to the unloader valve, so how the air get stop to go the unloader valve and get force to go inside the tank ? (when the compressor is running)

thanks

Note: #29, #31 & #9 are the part # from the picture attached

Hi David... if you read the two pages linked from the Valve page, that of the Unloader Valve and the Check Valve, you will find your answer.

Yes, they are inter-related, and if one isn't working, it will affect the other.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Travis.

That little valve beside your pressure switch is the unloader valve.

I suspect that though air is leaking out of this valve when the compressor motor isn't running, and doesn't leak out of this valve with the compressor motor is running, is that your check valve may be the issue.

Please read the Unloader Valve and Check Valve pages linked from the Valve page or the site map, for details on what these are, and how they are supposed to operate.

Cheers,

Bill
