compressor shuts down after its hot will not start back up until it cools off for a long period of time

compessor will work for hours but after about 4 hours or so it shuts down and will not work till next day and then same thing

It sounds like your motor is overheating, and the thermal cut out is working to protect your motor from more damage.

Do you know if your air compressor is a continuous cycle, or does it have a DUTY CYCLE? If it has a duty cycle, it sounds like you are over using it and not giving the compressor enough time to cool down.
