Compressor runs until it has about 1 psi and than blows the breaker.

I can't remember how they spelled the name of this brand that i got. Its a 60 gallon with pump that has 2 pistons that turn free. Now when it gets to about 1 to 3 psi not sure what psi it is but the gauge still reads zero at this point. But at that 1-3 psi range the motor starts having to work really hard and starts slowing down after about a min of that its pulling so much power it blows the breaker and its on a 20 amp breaker just for it self. Crazy part If you open the valve to let the air air out when the psi in the tank drops the motor will start to move free again and not blow breakers. I'm not sure where to look for the problem at this point

In the absence of air in the tank, there is less work for the motor to do, and so, even if it has problems, it will sometimes start when there is no load, and lug when it starts to build pressure.

I think, based on your comment, that your motor capacitor is failing or has failed, and, as a result, when a little load builds, your motor can't get enough power to run, overloads the circuit, and blows the breaker.

However, 1 PSI is a very low load. So, it might be the motor itself that's pooched.

Cheers,

Bill
