Compressor run-on

We have a Speedaire compressor model no. 4B236B that does not like to shut off when it reaches max tank pressure (135 lbs). What do I need to replace?

When we see the pressure exceeding 135 we turn the on/off switch off then on again and everything is fine.

While it's impossible to be sure without seeing your Speedaire air compressor in operation, my best guess is that you have a pressure switch cut out pressure point failure.

Did it used to stop at 135 PSI? Why not try letting it run to 150 PSI and see what happens?

Here is more information on pressure switches.

You can replace yours with the same brand, or, most compressor shops will have a replacement pressure switch that you can retrofit to your unit.

Cheers,

Bill
