Compressor pumps up to 150psi then kicks off i want to know if i can adjust it to kick off at 90 psi

cambellhausefield 28 gallom 6.25 hp compressor. It kick off at 150 psi. can i adjust to kick off at 90 psi?

I suspect you can, though in doing so, any warranty you have may be voided.

The question I have is why?

That you have 150 PSI of air stored in your compressor tank means, if you are using air at 90 PSI (the setting on your regulator), that your compressor will run less often. This has positive ramifications for maintenance and wear.

Inside the typical pressure switch there are two threaded posts with nuts on them, and springs around them. Adjusting one of the nuts will increase or decrease the cut in pressure, and adjusting the other will increase or decrease the cut out pressure.

On don't know which is which on your pressure switch, so you will have to experiment.

Be careful. Unplug the compressor before you remove the cover of the pressure switch. There are exposed wires in there.
