Compressor not working over 45 psi - starts to slow down

Compressor starts fine, runs good upto 45 psi and then it starts to slow down, gets to 50 psi then stops, if I remove the feed pipe to tank the pump runs fine again, coul it be the motor.

Check to make sure you have clean power.

Drain tank and clean check valve to tank.

Do a capacitor check as per the page on this site.

Tear down and check the intake and pressure valves.

Or... jump right to having your motor load tested (they can check capacitors for you too) at a motor rebuild shop to either determine it's the motor, or rule it out, before you tear down.
