Compressor not starting completely

I just bought a used air compressor from my cousin's husband.

It was working fine when he ran it for me in his garage. It had a sparking wire so once I got home I repaired the wire connections at the compressor.

I also changed the 30amp cord end to one that fit my 30amp outlet.

All connections are good but when I plug it in, the compressor barely runs and only stays on for about 30 seconds then dies away.

I use other items on that outlet and it's working fine. Where could the problem lie?

I need this to work now as I'm in the middle of a home remodel.

Hmmm, what voltage was the plug in the garage when the compressor was tested, and what voltage are you feeding the compressor now?
