Compressor NO POWER NOT BREAKER

by Lori
(Arlington, TX)

I used my Speedaire just a few days ago, took it over to help someone out. Went to use and it as if it is not getting any power at all. No fuses/breakers blew. Plugged into several outlets. Rechecked to make sure it didn't blow a fuse. Nothing. It just acts as if no power is getting to it. The cord looks good, not frayed or loose. I don't have a clue, I don't know anything about these things. Can someone please help me?
thanks,
Lori

Hey Lori. Welcome! Boy, this scenario has got to be driving you batty.

OK, you've done the right thing in checking the power supply by plugging it into various electrical outlets. Assuming they are all not on the same circuit (ergo, they are live) then the power supply isn't the issue.

Is the pressure in the tank below the cut-in pressure level? By that I mean is there pressure in the tank, and if so, is it above where the compressor normally comes on? If there's pressure in the tank, and that pressure is above cut-in, then your compressor won't start unless the pressure drops below that level.

Not sure? Open the drain valve on the bottom of the tank and drain the tank to zero. Make sure you close the drain again.

Still won't start? Is the lever on the pressure switch, or the on/off button set to ON or RUN?

Please double check that.

If nothing still happens when you plug the unit in, there's no pressure, the switches are all to on, there's power in the supply line, then I'm guessing that your pressure switch has pooched.

Cheers,

Bill
