Compressor makes a clanging sound

First my small 3 gallon compressor started filling with an irregular pitch - it would fill with a high pitch sound then switch to a low (or muffled sound), then back to a high pitch.

Next, it blew its fuse, which I replaced.

A couple days later, it started "clanging", so I shut it off.

I took off the cover - the fan seems secure - I suspect the problem is in the motor.

I generally use the compressor at a low pressure - 20-25 psi or so. I use it to spray paint with an airbrush or small touch-up paint gun.

Hi there. As far as I'm concerned, you don't need my advice. I think you've hit the nail (the motor) right on the head. It sounds like a motor or drive problem to me.
