Compressor kicks off and on repeatedly

Bill,

Just put a 95 - 125 psi Square D pressure switch on my compressor. It's an old two stage unit purchased from Montgomery Wards in the mid-60's. It looks like a Quincy pump but I'm not sure.

After installing the pressure switch, the compressor kicks out at 120 psi and then immediately kicks in. The range is adjustable on this switch which I assume to mean the kick-in and kick-out psi points.

Should I try adjusting this until it kicks-out at 125 psi?

Thanks,

Dan

Pressure switch cycling

It seems to me that, if the cut in is 95 PSI and the cut out is 125 PSI, that the compressor is cutting in and out at 120 PSI means that either the pressure switch is bad, or it has been reset to incorrect thresholds.

If this were mine, and the set points were adjustable, I would certainly do so.

Just make sure that it's wired correctly first, would you?
