Compressor keeps running

by Ed
(N.Y.)

I just got a used Thomas Ultra air -pac t-30hp-591. I turn it on , it builds pressure to about 120- 122. The cut off should be 125,but it never seems to get to 125, can I turn the cut off point lower? when i take the cap off the pressure switch, i see a silver screw, that seems to need a special, hollowed out star screw driver, does this adjust the cut in-out? also, the filter assembly is missing, i plan on getting one, but could that be the problem?

Bill says...

Howdy Ed. If your air compressor reached the cut out pressure and shut off before, and it's not ding so now, there's something wrong with it.

Changing the cut out pressure to a lower setting is a band aid, in my opinion.

However, here's info the pressure switches for you.

And, here is info on why compressors won't build pressure.

Cheers,

Bill
