Compressor is not shuting off

The tank has a PSI max.,of 175 pounds. I do not remember pumping up as high as it is. I have been turning it off manuelly at 140.

Hello Eugene.

If your air compressor keeps running past the cut out pressure level, and the pressure level continues to rise in the tank past that level, then you need to replace the pressure switch as this is the symptom of a failed pressure switch.
