Discharge port and discharge line same size?

by quailbraker

I have a 1/2" discharge port on my compressor. Am I limited to no larger than a 1/2 air line? Would going to 3/4" airline do me no good because I am restricted at the discharge port to 1/2" anyway?

Howdy again. Question... if you have a 1/2" discharge pipe on your compressor, and your air line runs up the wall to a 3" main around your plant, is that the problem?

Nope. By plumbing into a larger line from your discharge coupler you are building a larger reservoir of air to be used by your air tools, contained in that bigger line.

However, if the air tool uses more air than your air compressor can deliver, no size of pipe will keep that air tool running as the supply of air declines.

Larger supply lines are good. Too small air compressors for what is being compressed air driven will still be a problem.

Bill

Air Compressor Steel Braided Discharge hose for compressor connection?

by quailbraker
(Wenatchee Wa)

Where do I find these type of hose? I have a 1/2" discharge port and need to connect from the compressor port to my 1/2" airline in the garage. Where do I find the appropriate 1/2" braided leader hose that would withstand the heat and pressure ?

Hello again, Quailbraker...

If you look at the hose and fittings pages on this site, I suspect some of my advertisers can help you in location of a braided air hose.

Since they say they are opening a facility in Wenatchee sometime, you could also contact American Hose & Fittings:

Sales: sales@americanhose.com

If they cannot supply you through a local distributor, I would be surprised if they couldn't provide a referral.

Cheers,

Bill
