Pull the plug, James. Drain the tank to zero.

Put a multi-meter on the line from the pressure switch to the motor. There should not be any power there with the compressor unplugged.

Close the tank drain and plug the compressor in. Observe the multi-meter. It should show power flowing to the compressor motor.

If the compressors shuts off after a few seconds, does the power feed to the compressor motor disappear as well?

If so, you likely have a failed pressure switch.

If the power to the motor continues, which I doubt, please post here as a comment, and we'll pursue a solution further.

Cheers,

Bill
