Compressor builds pressure then does not come back on.

I have a Husky 26 Gallon compressor that builds to 50 psi then shuts off and will not come back on.

Hello Nathan:

Why is the compressor shutting off at 50 PSI? Normally general purpose compressors have a high pressure set point of 120-170 PSI, sometimes higher.

If you normal pressure cut out level is over 100 PSI, and your compressor is shutting off (not blowing a breaker) at 50 PSI, then the switch has failed. Replace it.

Cheers,

Bill

Have a look at the Unloader Valve page linked from the Valve page. If your unloader valve isn't working, that could overload the motor and cause a popped breaker. It starts at 0 PSI because the pressure over the piston has vented enough.
