Compressor blows fuses

by Don
(Outside Montreal, Canada)

My small 3 gal. compressor was being used to run a brad nailer for window trim.

When it didn't start after using the nailer for a while. I took the motor cover off and found the fuse burnt.

I replaced the fuse with a 20 amp fuse, (the only one I had without a trip to the store).

Before turning it on, I spun the motor to make sure it was free.

When I turned it on, the circuit board burnt up. The fuse did not blow.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

"When I turned it on, the circuit board burnt up. The fuse did not blow." What the amperage of the fuse you replaced, Don?

What did you check as per the troubleshooting page about air compressors that blow fuses / breakers?
