kobalt model # 2211495 keeps tripping off

__________________
Hello Bob. Can you provide a bit more info as a comment to this post, so I can follow the thread?

Pull the plug on your Kobalt, bleed the air down to zero PSI in the tank, and, after closing the compressor tank drain, plug it back in to start it.

Does is start properly, or does it trip out on start up now?

At what pressure does the motor trip off?

Is it the motor reset that you push to get it going again, or is it the circuit breaker on the power supply?

What is the highest pressure that the compressor tank gauge shows before it trips off?

When you bleed off air, at what pressure does it try to start again, and is that when it trips?

Thanks,

Bill

builds air but kicks breaker when it comes back on

I have a kobalt model # 37296 it builds air when tank is empty but when it comes back on to build air back up it stroggles and kicks the little inline breaker. (BUT) if you let all the air back out it will run until it shuts off again. Is this a check valve problem?

Nope, I don't think so. I think what you do have is an UNLOADER VALVE that isn't dumping the air over the piston when the compressor shuts off. Read the unloader valve page for more info.

Bill

Kobalt compressor will not start

by Walter
(Madison, AL)

I have a 17 gallon Kobalt compressor. i was using my compressor and after it filled the tank it can back on to increase air pressure since i was using the compressor to put air in my truck tire.

After running for a few minutes the compressor shut off and didn't come back on.

I later realized that it tripped the breaker (15 amps).

I reset the breaker and when I turn the compressor switch in, the electric motor twitches and the motor hums but does not spin. I am able to rotate the compressor by hand but the motor will not spin when power is turned on.

Make sure you have a clean power supply (no other appliances pulling power from the same circuit) and if you are using an extension cord either get an larger gauge or plug the compressor right into the socket to test it.

If that doesn't make a change, then I think you may have a problem with the start capacitor, and you should have it, and the motor, load tested.

Bill

belt slips on kobalt air compressor model # 215914

how do i adjust my belt on kobalt air compressor model # 215914?

George, I don't have one in front of me to check myself, but normally the motor mount will have slot mountings, allowing you to loosen the nuts and move the motor to tighten or loosen the belt.

You will likely have to remove the shrouding, of course.

Cheers,

Bill

Install belt on 215914 Kobalt compressor
by: Anonymous

Looks like the piston rod has to be disconnected on the Kobalt 215914 compressor to get the belt in place.

Thanks for that. There are so many models of the popular Kobalt air compressors that it's hard for any one person to know them all, and it's tips from owners like you that help.

Kobalt air compressor belt
by: Anonymous

I think the belt on my Kobalt air compressor #215914 needs a new belt. Can I buy just the belt somewhere and what tools do I need? It looks like I'll need a large "star" bit and a thin enough wrench to get into the small space to use it.

Since it's a Lowes brand, start there, for both the belt and the tools to adjust it.
