Compessor blows breaker 30 seconds after turn on
Baldor 5hp. single phase.
Bill answers...I hope you've read all the questions and the comments already on the bottom of the page, and tried everything that's suggested there?
That it takes 30 seconds before the breaker pops tells me that it's not likely to be a short to ground, as that amperage draw would pop the breaker instantly.
It sounds as though the load is increasing, drawing more amperage, and since that's happening after 30 seconds, I'm guessing you've got an incipient motor failure occurring, or back pressure is loading up the motor to the point where it's drawing too much amperage for the circuit.
I wonder if the check valve going into your tank is partially or completely blocked? The back pressure from that would load up the cylinder piston and in turn the motor.
Any other suggestions from anyone?
Thanks for writing in. Hope this helps.
