Champion pl70 keeps building air past cut off point

i have a champion pl70 air compressor that keeps building air past cut off point


new valves all the way around completely re done.

air compressor builds to 200 pop off valve pops,

contacts break at desired pressure but there are no adjustment no matter how many times you turn screws is problem contacts cut in out regulator or electrical

Hello John.

If the contacts break in the pressure switch at the desired pressure, then power to the motor circuit will stop.

If the power to the motor stops, so will the motor.

If the pressure switch is still passing power when the tank pressure bypasses the normal cut out setting for that switch, then it is quite likely that the points inside the switch have fused, or the diaphragm is ruptured, and though you think the points are opening to break the power supply to the compressor motor, they are likely not.

Use your multi-meter. If, when the pressure in the tank reaches cut out, check the motor side of the switch. If there is power still there, the switch really hasn't tripped to cut power, and that means it's likely the pressure switch that needs to be replaced.
