Harbor Freight Item # 96068 cannot find fuse location to replace.

Hello,

I have Central Pneumatic 12 volt car air compressor I bought from Harbor Freight. Item # 96068. It worked great for a couple of months then cut out and has never worked again. I think I may have blown the fuse that is mentioned on the sticker, but I cannot find the fuse. Took the plug apart, but no fuse. Any ideas?

The fuse on this type of mini-air compressor is typically inside the plug-in adapter that goes into the accessory jack in the vehicle.

You could check for continuity across the plug with it switched "on" - near zero ohms, but more than zero.

Also, have you verified your outlet is working?
A lot of newer vehicles are rated at 5 or so amps, and these things typically draw around 10-15 A.

Do you know what size or what markings are on the belt in the Central Pneumatic Air Compressor

This air compressor is still current at Harbor Freight. Since they have support accessible via their website, the first thing if you haven't done so already is to contact them.

I am posting this for you anyway in the hope that another user of the Central Pneumatic 67696 can help.

Two possible things to try:

See vpowerequipment.com ;
They have what looks identical to the HF sans the printing on the tank. Maybe they'd have a number for the belt.

Second, failing that, the belt is likely something off the shelf, so if you figure out how long and what the cross-section (V, o-ring, flat, etc) was, you can probably find it based on that.

Yes, looking through the reviews on it I see at least one person with a broken belt.

The motor runs at 17,500 rpm no-load and slows down from there. it's a small wonder it works at all, but most seem happy with it.

There isn't a parts list on-line, so I guess HF is the only bet.

Replacement Belt
by: Anonymous

Bill,
I contacted Harbor Freight and they said this belt was discontinued. The part# in the manual is #126 but none of the sites with belts recognize this part#. The belts has a number but I lost the belt and don't know the number.
________________
The parts list # (in this case 126) is not a part number of the piece, but rather, it's number in the list.

I am surprised that HF cannot provide you with the belts actual part number... well, maybe not so surprised, I guess.

I hope that someone with this compressor can post the information you seek. I regret I do not have it.

I doubt it has one.

Do you see pulleys?

I haven't pulled one apart Doug, but some of this mini-compressors have a small belt to drive the piston.

model 95386 oil leak from crankcase

oil leak from crankcase, are there gaskits that I can replace? 95386

model 95386. When I first got the compressor it leaked like a sieve. The screws around the front cover were only finger tight so I tightened them and it seemed OK. But after a while the oil level was low and there was oil underneath the unit.
