Can you lay a stand up air compressor down?

I was wondering if you can lay a upright compressor down for transport purpuses od would this hurt the compressor?
Any info would help thanks.

If it's an oil lubed compressor, I wouldn't. Would you turn your car on it's side to transport?

Oil and crud will get into where it shouldn't, with long-term issues in the operation of your air compressor almost certain.

Nope, I wouldn't change the orientation of my air compressor to transport it.

Cheers,

Bill

I disagree with all of you. I have put my stand up compressor on its side a half dozen times. without draining the oil. This can be done as long as you stand it up and leave it for about 24 hrs to have oil settle. Same as a refrigerater. as long as you let it sit 24 hrs. Lay it down.

Disagreement is OK. Just that, I've had many reports from folks that have laid their compressor down (vertical - upright tank) and have had not end of difficulties after, up to and including the compressor not starting.

That's what I was thinking of doing. Drain the oil then haul it and let sit for a few days.

yes you can lay it down. but you gota drain all the oil out of it first. so it dont fill the pistons and bend the the little reed that controlls you air flow.when you stand it up a gain fill with oil let stand for two day be for you use it a gain.hop this hell your question.
