can i run a 6gallon compressor on a generator? if so what size do i need? thanks.

I have a 6 gallon pancake compressor and I'm working where there is no power. I read that it is not good to run a compressor on a generator. Is this true? What size generator do I need?????

I'm no expert in generators. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to acknowledge that I'm an expert in anything.

I do believe that the electrical power from a generator may have some negative effects on electric motors, but you really need to talk to the generator people about that.

As to how big a generator, check the motor information plate for details as to the voltage, the amps and hopefully the wattage required by the motor, and make sure your generator can supply at least that level.
