Can I replace the copper unloader tube?

Hi Bil:

Can I replace the copper unloader tube with a flexible metal braided line?

Here's the situation.

I have two oilless compressors.

One is a portal cable 5 gallon 135psi with a high pressure rubber hose exhaust (tank fill) line.
It works great, never had a problem out of it.

The other compressor is a Campbell Hausfeld Oilless 13 gallon 125 psi with a solid copper exhaust (tank fill) line.

On the CH i have had to replace the Ferrules on the tank fill line twice. I guess due to vibration the ferrules wears out and the cooper tube deforms.

Can i replace the exhaust line on the CH with a flexible high pressure line like what is on the Porter Cable?

Thanks.

Regards, David P.

Replace unloader line

As far as I am concerned, if the braided tube is rated for the pressure, and will withstand the heat generated by the pump, no reason not too.

Your diagnosis of the problem with the ferrule is spot on, too.
