campbell hausfeld replacement of pressurer switch
how to disconnect small air line from pressure switch
_________________________
Bill says...The small (often copper) air line that terminates on the side of the pressure switch is the unloader valve line. It's plumbed from the compressor head, often by a tee off the line from the head into the tank.
If you examine the line beside the pressure switch, you should see that it ends in a pin of some sort, and a tongue or lever sticks out of the side of the pressure switch, and will operated this pin as the tongue or lever moves.
When the compressor is off, the pin should be depressed, identifying that the unloader valve is open, and compressed air that was trapped over the piston has been bled off to atmosphere.
Removal of the line should be fairly simple, as there shouldn't be any pressure in it, and often it's a small bolt or screw that, when removed, allows one to move the line out of the way to replace the switch.
If you had sent in a photo, I could have been more specific as it applies to yours.
Cheers,
Bill
