Compressed air regulator

I have a campbell hausfeld 26 gallon cast iron pump air compressor.

I bought it used everything works 100% except when I set my regulator to lets say 90 psi to run my 16 gauge brad nailer I fire 7 shots and the regulator drops down to 60 psi causing my nails not to counter sink.

I watched the regulator build back up to 90 psi again...it took about 2 minutes to do so.

I have read the other posts on this page and some people have asked similar question.

I know my main tank gauge is working.

I need to know is my regulator bad or something else. I know my tool is not pulling tons of cfm so that isn't an issue. I only see it happening when I set the regulator.

All else being equal, your regulator should maintain the pressure during discharge within a couple of pounds and recover in a matter of no time to maybe a second or two.

So, I'd say replace the regulator.

OR... If you're a glutton for punishment, you could disassemble and try to fix it.
