I have an 80 gallon, 7.5hp, pro. series Campbell Hausfeld air compressor that is 19yrs old. It quit today and when I tried to reset the breaker it sparked and will not reset. I installed a different breaker, same thing. Motor and compressor turn freely by hand. I CLEANED THE contacts on the switch nothing.

Compressor causes sparks in breaker

This sounds like a major short in your compressor.

You need to check all electrical connections including inside the pressure switch, and if you don't find anything, I would suspect the motor of having the short.
