Brute 10 gallon won't kick back on

by Derek
(Ohio)

I can turn it on with an empty tank and it will fill right up to 120 psi. If I'm using the air compressor frequently after it fills, it will drop down and kick back on and refill the tank. But if I let it sit for 15 minutes or so after its filled, when the psi drops to the cut in limit it will not kick back on and refill.

It acts like it wants to start and refill, but then it kicks out the reset button and I end up having to drain the tank. Once the tank is drained, it will fill up again.

Replaced pressure switch, still have same problem. Could it be electrical? Its a brute 10 gallon it says 120volt on it and its plugged into a wall outlet.

Brute 10 gallon won't turn back on
by: Bill

Derek, I hope you didn't throw the old switch away, as I suspect there is nothing wrong with it.

What isn't working, I think, is the compressor UNLOADER VALVE.

Have a read of that page linked from the nav bar for details.

If that doesn't work, post here as a comment and tell me what happened.

Cheers,

Bill

problem solved
by: Derek

Ended up being a voltage problem. I plugged it into another outlet on a different breaker and it works fine now

brute aircompressor will not kick on.

I have a brute 15gal aircompressor model 074005,when the air pressure is low it wont kick on. Do you think its the pressure switch ?

It depends on what is, or what is not, happening when your compressor tries to start.

First, turn off the compressor and drain the air from the tank down to 0 PSI. Close the drain and plug it back in / turn it on. Anything happen at all?

If you have power getting to the pressure switch, and no power from the switch to the motor when the pressure in the tank is below the normal cut in pressure, then yes, you may have a switch problem.

I need a bit more info to better help you figure out what's going on with your air compressor, however.

Add a comment here if you have more info.

Cheers,

Bill

BruteAir Compressor not starting
by: Robert

I have a brute 15 gallon 110v air compressor. Started having trouble with it starting. at first, could drain the air from the tank and it would start. however, it would only run short time before cutting off. building less and less pressure each time. now when it cuts off, it throws the reset switch. now i have to spin the fan to get it to start but still it only builds little pressure before cutting off. any ideas???
