Breaker on the compressor blows

by Norman

The compressor will run for a few minutes then the breaker on the compressor blows. I have plugged it in to different sources to make sure it wasn't a feed issue. I even fired up my portable generator and used it as the power source, same problem. This compressor is not that old (out of warranty) and not used very often. Any suggestions?

Norman, tell me you are not using an extension cord for your compressor? Good that you tried various sources of power to ensure a clean power supply, yet the use of an extension cord could ruin all that.

If no cord, how long is a few minutes, and what pressure does the tank gauge say is in the tank when the compressor breaker blows?

And, what is the temperature of the motor when the breaker pops. Too hot to touch, barely warm... give me some idea.
