Brand Names - select type of air compressor

Hello, great info on your website! It's helped me tremendously. I'm getting ready to purchase, now I just need an opinion as to a few brand names that you feel deliver the best product for the price.

I'm a DIY guy and need a compressor for home use (i.e. blowing off lawn equip., using an impact for changing tires, maybe some light duty spray painting, finish nail gun/stapler).

I'm most likely going to go with an oiled motor as it seems like most are saying they last longer. As far as names, I'm leaning toward Makita, but would like your input as to some others such as Campbell Hausfeld, Porter Cable, DeWalt, and Crafstman. Can you advise? Are any of them made in USA anymore?

Hey Paul. Nice to hear from you and good questions.

Here are my thoughts. The vast majority of DIY type air compressors are made in China. Yes, they have varying levels of quality, but the levels don't vary much.

If you are looking for low cost, pick the one that gives you the pressure and flow you want with the best warranty. Odds are you may need it.

If you want long life, and real support, find a compressor company that sells European or North American manufacture air compressors, with a parts supply and service network where you are, and one that will back their warranty.
