Unusual compressor problem
by: Bill

Well, I am so glad you found the problem.

When talking to folks regarding their compressor problems, you can only point out the usual issues.

That you've got a wire that's loosened to the point where it isn't making contact is a lessen to all of us to clear up the obvious (or not so obvious) potential issues first.

Cheers,

Bill

Bill, I found the problem. An improperly crimped power wire (inside a connector) going to the motor, making intermittent contact. I re crimped the wire and compressor is now running.

Thanks for your help

Testing Capacitors
by: Bill

See the testing capacitors pages. They are typically located on the motor, may be one or two, depending if there is one start, one run or dual start/run caps.

Good that you checked that there was power in the wall socket, to the switch, past the switch to... the pressure switch.

Can you use a meter to determine if, when the compressor tank is empty, that power is actually passing through the pressure switch?

If it is, then time to check the motor start cap. See that page on this site too.

Bostitch CAP2060P will not start

Bostitch air compressor model CAP2060P

Bostitch air compressor model CAP2060P

I have a Bostitch CAP2060P. I after continues use my compressor I noticed water sediment coming from my grinding tool and my compressor would not kick back on and pressurize the tank.

After reading your post and troubleshooting guide I found a considerable amount of water in the tank.

I drained the tank and the compressor initially started and pressurized the tank, but would not auto kick back on after the air was depleted.

Now the compressor will not start at all. Any suggestions?

When you plug it in and turn it on, what happens? Does it make any noise, try to start... what?

Are you getting power from the wall socket? Is that power going to the pressure switch? Is the pressure switch tripped to on? Is power getting across the pressure switch to the motor circuit?

We need a bit of information to try to help you diagnose the compressor issue.

Cheers,

Bill

No electrical power and Bostitch compressor won't start

Air compressor will not come on at all. I thought it was a bad on/off switch and have replaced it I have verified that I have electrical power all the way to the motor. What is my problem.

A wander through the troubleshooting section on this site, and a click on reasons why an air compressor won't start, would likely give you the answer.

Good that you checked that you have power all the way to the motor.

That being the case, I would suspect that either your start capacitor has failed, or the motor itself is suspect.

You can check the cap. See that page on this site.

Howdy Kyle.

Have a look at the troubleshooting page about why air compressors don't start.

Do the checks referred to on that page, then add a comment here with what you found.
