Blows breaker after 10 to 15 seconds

The air compressor blows circuit breakers after 10 to 15 seconds. I did find a broken reed valve on the exhaust side of the reed plate but not sure if the electric motor doesnt also have issues. Or, did the broken reed valve cause the motor to pull too many amps.

Jamie, it would help if I knew what was happening to the pressure in the tank during that 10-15 seconds of compressor run before the breaker popped.

Does the pressure in the thank increase normally?

If the air passage to the tank is affected, and the pressure builds up in the plumbing before the tank, the motor would see an artificial load build up, and that might cause the increasing amperage draw.

If you are getting a typical pressure increase in the tank during that short period of run time, and the compressor pops the breaker anyway, then, I too think you may have a motor issue.

Cheers,

Bill
