Blasting with a 2nd line to an outside blaster

I have a top-notch air compressor and use it with a 2x5' beed cabinet. We want to run a line outside so I can blast using soda/sand for frame blasting. The bead cabinet is a different grit of course. My question is, can I add a 2nd tank to my inside setup to allow more air volume and would it help in reducing the workload when we start with the outside blasting?

If there are veribles I need to concentrat on, I would apprecaite any info.

My compressor is set at 120psi but regulated down for inside use. I'm assuming I would need to split off with a 2nd line but not reduce the pressure?

No problem adding a second tank for additional, pre-compressed air supply to be used when needed.

You need to make sure that you don't compromise the compressor by exceeding its duty cycle. See that page on this site for more info.

"would it help in reducing the workload when we start with the outside blasting? " Not really. There is no "free lunch". Your compressor will have to run longer to fill multiple tanks. It may run less often, depending on how much air you use. Again, beware the duty cycle.

"I'm assuming I would need to split off with a 2nd line but not reduce the pressure? " You can add any number of regulators so that your first or second line can be run at the minimum operating pressure necessary for the tool. That is where you want to run all air tools. Lowest air consumption, and least amount of wear on the tools.

Cheers,

Bill
