Bambi 225/1000 compressor

Hi

I have a Bambi 225/1000 and one of the 3 pumps has started making a faint intermittent clicking sound occasional when running.

Sometimes this sound is accompanied by a slight shudder from that particular pump unit.

The unit seems to run fine otherwise and is still as quiet as the other two units on the compressor so I am guessing some kind of electrical issue?

Could it be the capacitor?

Many thanks Malcolm

Sure sounds like it - kinda cool that the thing sorta has built-in backup...

Anyway, keep us posted please.

Hi Doug,

I have removed the overload cover and the noise is definitely coming from either the overload or the other round thing that's wired to the overload...
In the process of investigating the noise though I have found out that whilst the motor is running fine it appears not to be pumping any air!! If I remove the inlet filter and cover the hole there is no suction at all!! Time to buy I service kit I guess!

I suppose it could be the overload, but based on what we have said thusfar, I'm more inclined toward the start relay.

But you can see and hear it better than I (G), so you'll have to make the determination.

Let us know though, please.

Thanks Doug, oil level is ok and nothing seems out of the norm... I have had a closer look today and the clicking noise appears to be coming from under the overload cover I guess it could be the overload switch making the noise?? That pump isn't running any hotter than the others it seems.

Hard telling, but yes, it definately could be a run cap.

We assume the oil level is OK.
