balanced horizontally opposed piston compressor

by Suj

Hi there,

I was hoping if you could give me the definition and advantages of horizontally opposed piston compressor?

Thanks,
Suj

Hi Suj:

Simple answer. Nope!

If you need to know how big a compressor you need to generate a specific flow, OK.

If you need advice as to plumbing a compressor for your home workshop (An ebook is coming soon - email me if you want the intro special), then I can help you.

If you think about it, regardless of the technology of the compressor itself, nothing really matters except for, "will that compressor give me the flow I need at the pressure I need to do the job I need to do?".

After these questions are answered, then you can get into the style of compressor, whether it's a "horizontally opposed piston compressor" or not, whether it's rotary, or vane, or reciprocating...but regardless of the technology, you need to be sure that the compressor gives you the flow and pressure you need. It's as simple as that.

I don't do theoretical. Sorry.

Cheers,

Bill

Yes it matters!

You will have less vibration in a horizontally opposed piston compressor. That can be very important pending on your application. If you need to install a compressor on a machine or in an area that is sensitive to vibration, than you probably want this kid of compressor. If you are going to keep it in the back room of your shop, than it doesn't matter.
