At 7.5 bars the pressure release valve empties the air.

My compressor starts as normal then at 7.5 bars the pressure release valve empties the air.

When i turn on the compressor it runs as normal until it reaches 7.5 then is keeps releasing air until it gets to 6 bars then it cuts in again until it reaches 7.5 then it cuts out and empties the air again and so on so the compressor is constantly cycling and purging air. Any solution?

Thanks,
Tim

Pressure release valve

Just to be sure, we are talking about the pressure relief valve here, and not the unloader valve on the pressure switch.

What is the normal cut pressure setting of your compressor? Knowing the make and model wouldn't hurt too.

If the PRV is letting go before the normal cut out pressure of the compressor, then it's likely that the spring, if your PRV has one, is failing or, contamination of the PRV from the compressed air is allowing the PRV to crack open early.

A bit more information about your compressor and the normal versus the "new" conditions would help.

Thanks.
