Are there different kinds of 1/4" NPT quick-connectors?

"Tool Shop" 20 Gallon compressor

I have a "Tool Shop" 20 Gallon compressor from Menards and 1/4" color-coded quick-connects from Farm & Fleet, but the connectors won't go into the quick-connect on the compressor. Both are listed as 1/4" npt. Am I missing something? Thanks!

couplers

Actually, although nobody has a monopoly, there are lots of well-defined "standards".

You can see (and shop for) "air couplers" at mcmaster.com. There are at least 18 main types.

Most local stores sell "industrial" (I) and/or Tru-Flate AKA Automotive, or "M" style.

There are also several types of "universal" sockets, but again, most stores will have only an "I/M" combo socket.

Have fun...

1/4" NPT quick-connectors

Yes, unfortunately there are few standards when it comes to how connectors fit into couplers, even if both parts are 1/4" NPT.

See the sitemap page under fittings and follow the links to the connectors and couplers pages that provide detailed info about this.
