airmaster tiger 8/35 electric air compressor wont start

Hi,
I have an airmaster tiger 8/35 electric air compressor. It has a 1.5hp motor.

I started it last night and it ran an filled the air tank up to pressure.

relief valve went off and the motor stopped,

I heard a humming noise at this point but all seemed to be OK so started using the air to inflate tires and realised that the motor was not kicking in to refill the tank. Using a Volt meter I checked the fuse, checked the supply and checked the pressure switch all working. The motor spins so it has not seized.
Any idea what else I can check

If you are getting clean power to the compressor as you say, then try this. Unplug it, and dump all the air to atmosphere. Plug it in. Does it start?

If so, your unloader valve may not be working properly.

If it still doesn't start, and you have power running from the switch to the motor, indicating that the pressure switch has tripped to on, then you need to look to the start capacitor next, I would say.
