air leaks at the reed valve after air pressure is built up in tank located under the air filter on top of the compressor
how do i fix this problem do I need new piston rings and if I do where do I get them My speedaire is modle 1z286e

When your compressor is running, the intake valve (usually a flapper type) opens on the downstroke, allowing air to be pulled into the cylinder by the piston as it recedes. The flapper valve into the tank line is pulled closed at the same time.
When the piston compresses the air, the intake valve is forced shut, and the pressure valve to the tank is forced open.
If air is bleeding out the intake valve as the compressor is running, you need to fix the valve. It likely has nothing to do with the piston seals.
