Air Filter for Inlet Air

Can anyone supply me with information on how to remove sulphur oxides (SO2 ) from our
compressor inlet air supply in polluted environment?

Is there a special filter that's available?

Filtering Sulphur from Compressor Intake
by: Bill - Publisher

Rajesh:

This is a tough one, and certainly falls outside (way, way outside) my "expertise".

I'm told that Sulphur oxide emissions to air mainly come from the combustion of fossil fuels containing variable proportions of sulphur (0.5% to 3% for oil and 0.5% to 10% for coal), and a wet process using a gas/liquid reaction can remove up to 95% of the emissions.

However, you'll really have to talk to a company that manufactures scrubbers to come up with unit that will allow you pull free air through it to the compressor intake, and in the process strip the unwanted emissions from the air.

One company that I know of that does that sort of work on an international level is Fabricated Plastics (www.fabricatedplastics.com). View their site, and if you feel that they can provide a solution, contact them directly.

I invite any visitors that have any knowledge about this to post your comments too.

Cheers,

Bill
