air comrpessor regulation

How do I regulate to get two different outputs from my compressor? I need one at 40 psi for running a foam brush and I would like to have another higher one for running air tools and filling tires?

The air gets out of your compressor tank through an in-line pressure regulator, and then to a discharge coupling into which you plug your air line.

Whatever pressure level you set on the regulator before the discharge coupling is the pressure that flows out of it to the air line.

If it were me, I'd unscrew the discharge coupling ( making sure that the tank is empty and the compressor is off ). Then I would thread a Tee onto where the discharge coupling was, and on either side of the Tee I'd add a nipple.

On to each nipple I would thread a properly sized in-line regulator, and then downstream from the regulator I would thread the first discharge coupling on one side, and a new one on the other.

You can do this before the regulator that's already there, of course, but if it's easier, just leave that one in place and open it all the way so that it doesn't affect the downstream pressure any more.

Then, when you plug to air lines into the discharge couplers of the two new regulators, you can adjust the pressure setting of each line as desired.

Cheers,

Bill
