Nelson, if the air compressor is switching off normally, but it's 10 PSI below where it has been before, then I think either somebody has already adjusted the cut out pressure downwards, or the pressure switch may be failing.

I think it's a good idea to try and adjust the switch first, before you buy a new one to replace one that might not be defective.

With the power plug pulled out of the socket, remove the cover of the pressure switch. You will see, at one end, two springs with threaded studs in the middle, and on those studs will be nuts for adjustment.

Inside the cover of the switch may be instructions.

One of the threaded stud nuts adjusts cut in, the other cut out. After you have noted the cut in and cut out pressure of the compressor without an adjustment, adjust one of the nuts, and test. See what was affected, cut in or cut out. Now you know which one to adjust further.

Be careful, with the plug in there are live and bare wires inside your pressure switch.

By the way, most pressure switches come with the adjustment studs and nuts covered with a sealant, so that it is easy to see if someone had been tampering with the pressure settings. As soon as you break this sealant, if you have this sealant on your compressor, typically, any warranty you have left may now be void.

Cheers,

Bill

the compressor is only two days old ,it is a husky 26 gallon 150 psi, its cut out is 140 psi and cut on is 110 psi, this is what the air gauges read.

______________
So, when you bought it, you either understood, or it says somewhere that it will produce 150 PSI, but the cut out pressure is 140 PSI?

That may not mean anything is wrong. What that says to me is that your compressor is rated for 150 PSI, not that it's set for 150 PSI.

If that extra 10 PSI is important, then don't adjust the switch, take the unit back.

But before you do, call the store and ask why the discrepancy. If you can get anyone that knows what you are talking about, that might help.

Good luck.
