Air compressor won't come on automatically - holding down reset switch

Pressure switch is good it only will run when you hold down the reset on the motor

By holding down that reset switch you are likely over-riding the thermal overload and you are quite possibly frying your motor.

It's going off on thermal overload as it has a problem.

If it isn't a load issue from a mechanical failure on the pump, or poor power supply, it may be that the run capacitor is pooched, or the motor itself is gong.

Either way, holding down the reset isn't helping.

Check your power supply (no extension cord for example) and if the power is clean, then get the motor checked out.
