Air Compressor turns off before it's pumped up.

I have a Bostitch Cap2040p air compressor. It pumps up the first time. after I use it for a bit it shuts off before it reaches it required pressure. I have to unplug it for about 10 mins. then it will pump up again and do the same all over again. I have replaced the pressure switch and it still does the same thing.
Help please!
Bill answers...Hey Mark.
My first thought on reading your question was that you've got a problem pressure switch. By changing that out, then you know that's not the problem.
One thought is that your electric motor is overheating to the point where it goes off on thermal overload. By letting it cool for 10 minutes, it's cool enough to work long enough to get the pressure up to cut-out level the first time.
Then, since you're using the compressed air, before the motor has a chance to cool enough, the motor kicks back on, and now that it's already hot, trips out of thermal. I think. :-)
What's doing that? Could be the motor is wearing out, could be a mechanical issue that's overloading the motor as the compressor pump works, and that's binding the motor shaft causing heat buildup in the motor itself.
Sorry I can't be more definite. When you get it figured out, why not drop us a note a let us know what the problem was?
Thanks,
Bill
