hi what gauge wire and breaker amp should i use for my air compressor?

running 20 feet from breaker to air compressor

Sure wish I could be sure, but I'm not, me not being an electrician.

The run seems pretty close to me, so if I were doing it for my compressor of your type, I would guess that 12-3 or 10-3 wire would work. If I had the bucks, I'd go 10-3 just because a larger supply is better than a smaller one.

As to the amps of the breaker, what does the motor pull? It should be on the motor I.D. plate. I would guess a 20 amp breaker, but I might default to 30?

All of you electricians out there, can you help out this person?

Thanks,

Bill

I have the same compressor, 30 amp breaker, needs about 22 amps to get started. No smaller that 10 guage wire.
