Air compressor regulator

by Terry Sonny
(Naples, Fl)

I installed an air compressor regulator and the needle will not stay at the set position eg. 60 psi, it moves up to the total psi of the tank which is 123 psi.
It is a 125 psi compressor, cut in is 90 psi.
Thanks

Hey Terry, that is an odd one. The regulator's purpose is to set the downstream pressure level, and the gauge on the regulator is supposed to display what that downstream pressure setting is.

Is there any way that you have pressure coming back into the regulator from downstream at a pressure level of the tank? That might account for it.

I'd need to see a picture of your installation to be able to nail it down, but it sounds like you have tank pressure coming back into the regulator outlet somehow.

Cheers,

Bill
