Air Compressor Pressure Loss - What are the causes
What are the causes of pressure loss in an air compressor???
Bill answers...I think I need to better understand the question. Are you asking for causes of pressure loss from the receiver /tank of the air compressor after the pressure in the tank has reached cut-out pressure, and you're not using the air to do work?
Or, is the question relevant to your compressor not being able to build up pressure in the tank, and as a result, it never stops running?
If the former you've a leak in the tank drain valve, the check valve on the line into the tank isn't seated correctly and your air is bleeding back out of the tank and out the unloader valve, your PRV is open and bleeding air, or you've got a leak in the discharge line or downstream equipment.
If it's the latter you may have major problems with the compressor head, or you're bleeding air out of the tank from somewhere faster than the compressor can fill it, and then the compressor motor won't ever stop.
Just some ideas...it's a bit hard to diagnose without a lot more info.
Cheers,
Bill
