Air compressor motor will run but will not build pressure, it just makes a clicking noise any ideas?

This is only the second time using it. Im building a shelf in the basement it worked for about 20 min. and then the clicking started. There is oil in it. I am wondering if maybe there might be to much moisture in the air? Thanks for any ideas.

Adam, what is clicking, please? Is the noise coming from the pressure switch, or the motor?

You say the motor runs but it doesn't build air. How then can you hear a clicking if the motor is running? Or, is it that the motor is running, but the compressor pump isn't operating? That being the case, look to the linkage between the motor shaft and the pump.
