adjust the depth of a staple by using a combo nailer stapler gun

I have a Campbell Hausfeld Compressor, 3 year old model, and a combo nailer and stapler.
I am unable to adjust the depth of the staples. At present, the staples are entering the wood almost 1/8 of an inch below the surface.
Suggestions on adjusting this would be appreciated.
Bill answers...Hi Robert, and hello to beautiful Vancouver Island.
If your stapler is driving the staples too far into the wood, then the force of the staple gun is too high.
How do you adjust the force (assuming there's no mechanical adjustment on your gun that will allow you to mechanically adjust the stroke depth)?
Your compressor should have a regulator on the discharge line. Your setup will also likely have two air gauges.
One compressed air gauge shows the pressure in the tank, and the other (closest to where the air discharges to the air hose coupling or right on the regulator itself) will show what the downstream pressure is set at. The downstream pressure is the air pressure that your staple gun will receive through the air line.
What's that pressure setting of that downstream side air regulator?
You turn the knob on the regulator to either increase or reduce the downstream air pressure to your air tool.
In your case, you want to lower the air pressure to your stapler. Reduce the air pressure until the staple seats to the level you wish.
Careful you don't set the pressure too low so the staples don't seat all the way, or below the MOP (minimum operating pressure) of the staple gun.
